The Santa Barbara Sea Monster

October 2, 1909, crewmen of steamship St. Croix off the coast of Santa Barbara.  To the San Francisco Examiner, they said it was 60 feet long, head like an eel's, body as thick as a man's.  Authors Paul LeBlond and Edward Bousfield include it in their list of Caddy sightings (p. 95)
